Kuwait, 14 May, 2018: The Olympic Council of Asia has approved Asian Electronic Sports Federation’s selection of 2018 Jakarta – Palembang Asian Games esports events.

OCA approved the details of the esports programme for the 18th Asian Games 2018 to be held in Jakarta and Palembang during its last Asian Games Coordination Committee meeting held last week in Jakarta.

The selected esports events are League of Legends, Pro Evolution Soccer, Arena of Valor (Honor of Kings International), Starcraft II, Hearthstone and Clash Royale.  OCA Asian Games Director Haider Farman said: “I’d like to send my congratulations to AESF to finalize its sports program for our 2018 Jakarta – Palembang Asian Games.

I’m also expecting the finalist of esports athlete could meet the deadline of entry by name and send to each NOC for their games accreditation.” “We are very excited to see esports making a debut in the Asian Games,” said Mr Kenneth Fok, President of AESF.

“In the selection of Asian Games esports, we exercised stringent criteria, i.e. the game must adhere to our vision of promoting integrity, ethics, and fair play.  Esports will strive to inspire and motivate the youth of the world to be the best they can be through educational and entertaining interactive challenges.”

articipating National Olympic Committees (“NOC”) would select no more than one individual player/ team for each event before May 31, 2018.  Upon registration, the chosen players/ teams will take part in one of five regional qualifying competitions: East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, West Asia, and South East Asia, to be held between June 10 and 20, 2018.

The finalists from the five regions will come together at Jakarta in August for live action in front of a world audience.  Esports federations or associations should contact their local NOC or email AESF at games@aesf.com to register for the competition.

“AESF is most grateful for the staunch support of OCA and the Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) in making esports included in Asian Games this August,” Mr Fok remarked. Asian Electronic Sports Federation (“AESF”) is the sole competent authority for electronic sports throughout Asia and recognized by Olympic Council of Asia (“OCA”) as such.
